Launch event @BarrieFest – SEOPCO, CUGB, Beyond Hunger

September 11th, 2021

In honor of launching Takeout 25 as a non-profit organization with an expanded mission, vision, and values, TO25 partnered with SEOPCO (South East Oak Park Community Organization), CUGB (Clean Up Give Back), and Beyond Hunger as a beneficiary for the launch event in an in person afternoon of food, music and family fun. Furthermore, nine local restaurant partners, supporters such as Byline Bank, as well as a few business owners stepped up to make the event possible.

The goals, which were reached during the event, where: to showcase and support the amazing and diverse food options in the TO25 community, to bring the community together in person to take a break from the pandemic and have some fun, to raise $25,000 in additional donations through the T-shirt give away campaign, to raise awareness about food insecurity (as September was Hunger Action Month) and sustainable waste management.

Plastic Drive

February 1st, 2022

Cody Norman, a local artist, has been asked by the Chicago Botanic Garden to create artwork constructed from plastics for their 50th Anniversary Celebration this spring. Clean Up Give Back - OPRF Chapter (CUGB) has volunteered to coordinate the plastic collection, partnering with Takeout 25 once again. All participating members had to do is order takeout from their favorite restaurant(s) and donate containers and cups that are #2 and #5 plastics to the cause.

Bench Donation – CUGB

November 15th, 2021

Takeout 25 showcased its steps towards its new mission of sustainability at the Oak Park Main Library. A collective of OPRF high school students with the group Clean Up Give Back (CUGB - OPRF Chapter) collected over 700 pounds of plastic waste from our community between mid-March and mid-June. As part of a program by Trex, a plastic upcycling company, these plastics were consolidated at the local Jewel Osco and sent to Trex. For every 500 pounds of plastics collected Trex would give an upcycled plastic bench in return. Takeout 25 is partnering with CUGB to donate a received bench to the OP Library Main branch to be placed in the lobby.

Community Trivia – Madison Street Theater (MST)

January 17th, 2021

Takeout 25 members who registered online for free for the event then ordered takeout for the online event on the 17th and joined Madison Street Theater for a free Quizlet trivia game over Zoom the same evening. This solely benefitted local restaurants that decided to join and partner up in the event (as well as MST).
